YOUR TRAINING IN CHATGPT & CLAUDE
Ask ChatGPT or Claude about your runs, rides and swims with your real numbers, and put structured workouts on your Garmin watch from the conversation. Fit File Forge does the analysis and builds the workouts; the AI app is where you ask.
SET IT UP
You need a Fit File Forge account (new accounts start a 14-day Pro trial) and, for activity data, Garmin Connect linked in Fit File Forge with activity sharing on.
Claude (web, desktop and mobile)
- In Claude, open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector. (Directory listing coming soon.)
- Name it Fit File Forge and paste
https://mcp.fitfileforge.com/mcp. - Choose Connect, sign in to Fit File Forge, choose what Claude may do, and confirm.
- On the phone app, connectors added on the web or desktop appear automatically.

WHAT YOU CAN ASK
- “How did this morning's 3 × 2 km go — did I hit the reps?”
- “Chart my heart-rate drift on my last long run.”
- “Am I getting fitter? Compare my last four long runs.”
- “Put a 4 × 8 min threshold run on my watch for Thursday.”
- “Plan next week: 6 hours, long run Saturday, travelling Tuesday and Wednesday.”
- “What's realistic for Sunday's 10K, and how should I pace it?”
Behind it: your activities, laps and splits, detailed time series, fitness and form, trends, best efforts and race predictions, your calendar — and building, editing, scheduling and sending workouts to Garmin. Nothing goes to your watch unless you ask, and the app asks you to confirm first.
WHAT THE APP CAN SEE AND DO
- Your profile — Name, units, time zone, thresholds and zones, your plan. Always included.
- Your activities — Summaries, laps, splits and the metrics we compute: fitness and form, time in zones, best efforts, predictions. On unless you untick it.
- Detailed activity data — Time series of heart rate, pace, power, cadence and elevation (every 1–5 seconds). Never your location. On unless you untick it.
- Your planned workouts — Your calendar and the workouts in your Vault. On unless you untick it.
- Build and schedule workouts — Create, edit and move workouts in Fit File Forge. On unless you untick it.
- Put workouts on your watch — Send workouts to Garmin Connect. The app asks you before each send. On unless you untick it.
Never shared: your location or routes, the original activity files, and health data such as sleep, HRV or stress (we don't collect it). Activity names that include a place are shortened to the sport.
YOUR DATA
Your training data is yours, and you choose whether to share it with an AI app. What the app receives is handled under its own terms and your settings there (OpenAI for ChatGPT, Anthropic for Claude), which may include using it to improve their models. You can disconnect at any time in the app or in Fit File Forge → Settings → Connected Apps, which also shows what each app did and when; disconnecting stops new sharing but can't recall what the app already received. Details: privacy policy, terms.

QUESTIONS
- Does Fit File Forge work with ChatGPT and Claude?
- Yes. Fit File Forge connects to ChatGPT (as a plugin) and to Claude (as a connector, on the web, desktop and mobile apps, and in Claude Code). You sign in with your Fit File Forge account and choose what the AI app may see and do.
- Can ChatGPT or Claude send workouts to my Garmin watch?
- Yes. Describe the session in plain words and Fit File Forge builds a valid structured Garmin workout — running, cycling, pool and open-water swimming, strength and multisport — and sends it to Garmin Connect when you confirm. Nothing is sent unless you ask.
- What data does the AI app see?
- Your activity summaries, laps, splits and the metrics Fit File Forge computes, your planned workouts and, only if you allow it, detailed time series of heart rate, pace, power, cadence and elevation. Never your location, the original activity files, or health data such as sleep or HRV, which Fit File Forge does not collect.
- How are moving time and pace measured?
- The same way everywhere, so the AI app's numbers match your activity page. Moving time counts the time you were moving, including steep climbs your watch reads as stopped; pace is distance divided by moving time, for the whole activity and for every lap and split. Grade-adjusted pace (GAP) is the flat-ground equivalent of the same distance and time; NGP also weights the harder stretches more, the way Normalized Power does for cycling. Efficiency factor is given only for steady sessions. The AI app receives these definitions along with the data.
- Is my data used to train AI models?
- Fit File Forge doesn't train models on your data. What you share with ChatGPT or Claude is handled under OpenAI's or Anthropic's terms and your settings in those apps, which may allow it to be used to improve their models. You can change those settings in the AI app and disconnect Fit File Forge at any time.
- Does it cost anything?
- The connection is part of Fit File Forge Pro. Every new account gets a 14-day Pro trial with no card needed.
